A denture is a removable prosthesis used to replace one or more missing teeth. Complete dentures are made of acrylic (plastic). Partial dentures can also be made wholly of acrylic. Alternatively, they may consist of acrylic teeth on a light metal alloy base: this type of partial denture is more secure and less bulky, but also more expensive. Depending on your dental needs, you may require a partial denture to replace some missing teeth or a complete denture to replace all natural teeth on the upper, lower or both. Having a good set of dentures will enable you to speak, eat, and drink well and can often improve a person’s appearance.
After an initial consultation or examination, subsequent visits to the dental practice will include taking dental impressions, bite registration, fitting and reviews.
Acrylic dentures at Manor Dental Practice start from £1,000.00, while chrome dentures start from £1,450.00, with final pricing confirmed following an assessment.
Most patients adjust within a few weeks, though this varies from person to person.
Many patients can eat a wide range of foods with dentures, though it’s often recommended to start with softer foods and gradually reintroduce others as you adjust.
Dentures typically last several years, though they may need adjusting or replacing over time as your mouth changes.
It’s generally recommended to remove dentures overnight to give your gums a chance to rest.
